Maybe I missed something here, but Elden is talking about DVDs and you asked about CDs.

There are Data CD-Rs that are designed for saving computer data; you don't want those for recording music.  A good ALL PURPOSE CD-R (I usually buy Fuji) will work with virtually anything.  Don't buy CD-RW, which can be erased and used over, unless you are sure the players you are going to use it on accepts RW discs. (some older and/or cheaper players don't)

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
