My CD player is brand new but it quits and stops when I play music. I've heard humidity can cause DVD players to do this. What makes it do that and can I fix it?

Dirt or scratches can cause a CD player to pause.  You can clean it carefully and dry it; that will get off dirt and fingerprints.  Scratches are a problem.

It's a new CD player and the only one that does it. Shouldn't the lense/player be checked and cleaned?
