Discuss Sue's answer to: How do you turn off the "you got mail" announcement?

I'm going crazy with your "you've got mail" announcement. Whenever I read my mail at night it wakes up half the house. How do I get rid of it?

That seems to apply to the short sound that alerts you if new mail arrives after you are already signed on.  The complaint is the "You've Got Mail"  (male voice) when you initially sign on, and the "Goodbye"  (male voice) when you sign off.  I would LOVE to be able to disable those.    Also, does anyone know why AOL Desktop (Mac) will not allow us to SAVE an email to our desktop or to a folder?   I have to sign on to an OLD,OLD,OLD version of AOL in order to SAVE mail.  Thanks.
