I must ask you if you know the name John Adir then why do you not just google the name with qualities of leadership.

Know that I have given you a question to go with yours, take my thoughts on leadership Business, Government ect.. A leader is everything your President is not. A good leader has knowledge in what he is leading, expriience in what he is doing, and the ability to communicate with those he or leads that displays confidence and self assured. Most of all a leader must be open to listen to he is leading but also be confident with his own thought and words and not display an abilty of double speak or slight of hand.

I will not bore you with my abiity or specialty, what I will bore you wiht is personality is just the beginning and not a very big one at that. I have been a leader. The first job I had as a leader I learned a valuable lesson, it matters little what a great personality you have if you loose the respect of those you lead. A good personaliy does little to gain respect, without it you will never lead no matter how much psyco babble you throw at it.

Yea, You are absolutely right! Personality is just the beginning.

However, it creates the basic fundamental aspects of a leader. No matter how talented or a calibre you are, it does not mean that you would gain respect from other perople. It does not mean that having a personality alone will lead you to gain respect. You are put as a leader as you have certain specialisation that is valued. However, with a great personality to go along with, you would be a much more than a powerful leader.

Alright, let me share more about leaders and managers. There IS a BIG difference!

A manager is required to maintain stability, discipline and control in the organization, and to solve problems with a view to the given operational structure, resources, goals and employee benefit.

Leaders, on the other hand, are generally conceived of as successful but lonely individuals. They have attained mastery over themselves and therefore can better control others while also creating for them a vision which infuses their work with value and direction.

I assume you fall into the category of a leader! John Adair leadership approach is to have an action-centred leadership that strikes a balance between task needs, individual needs and group needs (the people you are leading)

I suppose you wanted the best of both worlds! To be a dynamic leader as well as gaining respect of the people. You have got to be good at either being a leader or being a manager! You can't mix them together, They both have their pros and cons.

You don't have to constantly tell yourself to gain respect from people. You just have to know what you are doing and being focused on your objective. Very soon later, your subordinates will learn to appreciate you although they still have some bitter resentments against you.

A good leader is also a good manager ane they do go hand and hand. To go one step further you do not go and try to gain respect from those you lead or manage like beong a good leader you do not try and become one the title is bestoed upon you like respect.

hmm, im not saying you "try" and gain respect. I'm trying to say that you would gain it naturally without even have the need to try.

I believe that there is a difference in style between managers and leaders. How can two different personality go hand-in-hand? Its freaky.. haha

I do not think you have any idea of what you are talking about. You gain nothing naturally. It is given, you have nothing to do with it. Management styles are one thing but there is no leadership style, your boss may make  you a leader but if those you lead do not concur either vocally or not you will not be a leader. If you had ever been in the service or been a manager who was a leader I do not think you would be carrying on this way. The book only takes you so far, take it form someone who has an education beyond high school and been a manager and leader.  Quit talking like your President. The man is all Talk not action or experience. He talks a very good game but is a loosey player

I agree that managers and leaders are different. A person can be a manager without being in charge or leading anyone. Managers are often responsible for ensuring that certain things happen and, whilst this often involves leadership, this can often be minimal. I think leaders think slightly differently and concentrate their time on empowering other people to get the best out of themselves.
