I bought blackberry plants last year.  They gave me fruit and there are two plants left.  One has small green leaves on it as it was kept warm by leave mulch.  The other one isn't doing anything.  Should I trim the one that is not doing anything yet down to the base? Where do I get pure nitrogen?

Do not prune now. It is the wrong time.  If it is alive it will give you fruit hopefully.  If you prune it you ruin all chance of berries this year.  After you harvest the fruit you prune those branches that gave you fruit.  You leave alone the new branches. Those are the ones that will give you fruit next year.
