How Many Books?

Do you keep track of how many books you have read so far? I don't but I think it would be quite interesting to hear some statistics, even if they are just estimated.

Being a professional writer, I read a LOT. And have all my life. I couldn't even guess how many books. Hundreds of thousands I'm sure. I've been known to read two books a day, though that's rare. It's usually one book every two or three days. Let's just say when I'm not working, I'm reading.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

You have to be more specific -- all books?  Novels?  Textbooks?  Journals and/or magazines?  A combination of any and all of these?

E-books (novels) alone - about 35 in 10 years.

Good Heavens NO.  It would be almost impossible to make a list of all the books I have read/am now reading or have waiting for me to read.  It would be too time consuming to even try.

I've always felt that reading is the most imperative skill of all. My question is this. Do you think our culture on the whole is reading more or less and how could do you justify your position?
