My dealer tells me I need this MAFS at a cost of $400 bucks. Is there a way around an expensive fix? A friend suggested CRC air mass flow cleaner, has anyone tried this and what was your outcome?

Actually, cleaning the MAF sensor rarely helps. MAF sensor is very sensitive, so it can get contaminated very easily. As an alternative to OEM sensor which is expensive you could try to buy a cheaper Aftermarket part for the fracture of the price and replace your malfunctioning old unit. This is easy do-it-yourself task. These guys offer various sensors for very good prices. Hope it helps.Cool
