Bloody Mary was a name given to Queen Mary I of England who rules in the 1550's.  She was given that name since she was a devout Catholic and either killed or jailed Protestants during her reign.

Bloody Mary was also a character in the musical " South Pacific". She was a native of Tonga who had a beautiful daughter that she tried to marry off to American sailor who occupied the island during WWII. She also found a way to make money off of the service members from a variety of goods/services including laundry. The most memorable songs Bloody Mary sang are "Bali Hi" and " Happy Talk". Some of the Tonga Islands were occupied by the Japanese from about 1941-45 and also by American troops.
