How do black bears stay safe from enemies?

Unfortunately they are not as fierce as their brothers the Grizzley and they are hurt, hunted, destroyed and run out of their habitats all over the country on a regular basis.

Where they have been hunted for ages like in the Ocala Forest they are very shy and hide well.  When this area first developed they brought steamboats filled with people and tourists and hunters and they hunted at night when the animals came to the river to drink.  The Ockalawaha was mercilessly exploited and the animals slaughtered by the unbelievable numbers.

Now the bobcat, panthers, bears etc stay clear of man.  Good that is my goal also.

Man seems to crap on everything he touches sooner or later and usually it is too late for many species.
