The Big Bang Theory and "bazinga"

I just started watching The Big Bang Theory and it's a pretty funny show. The only thing I don't understand is when Sheldon makes a joke and then says 'bazinga.' Does that word mean anything? Did I miss an episode where that word is explained?

well, i also like that show. as far as i know, that word may be invented by Sheldon himself.  when he tells a joke which his friends dont understand. Bazinga then comes out which means i fool all of you up. interesting.

What?....Who?...Me?... .....What'd I do?..... Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of crap by the clean end.

Alexislee is pretty much correct.  It is Sheldon's way of saying "Gotcha!"; it's a variation of "zinger", meaning a joke that hits hard.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
