The father of the lie is Satan the Devil - John 8:44; he told the 1st lie at Genesis 3:1-4. Also, Colossians 3:9 "Do not be lying to one another..." Psalm 5:6 - "God will destroy those speaking a lie" - clearly this practice should be avoided. Titus 1:2 "God cannot lie" so we imitate him to the best of our ability. Hope these scriptures help!
