This is the new age "is there a god" question Wink

Recently I read an article on it PC magazine and their conclusion was that there isn't a big different between the two.

This profile was made using only pure recycled electrons

I have used both plasma and lcd tvs. I feel plasma is better.

Dear Plasma is better than LCD because it's gives realistic picture and more comfortable in low lights also. Try some

The easy answer... NEITHER! There's a revolution on its way... OLED technology will make both LCD and Plasma TVs look like a thing of the past.

The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode)  produces brighter than any other back-lit technology and has the fastest response yet to signal changes. Technologically, they are lighter, smaller and more durable as well. They are also very good at taking abuse, so they can be used almost anywhere.

There are already cell phones and handheld devices, TVs, even keyboards where each key is a screen and many more prototypes that are introducing OLEDs.

We'll have to wait and see how this technology evolves, but its supposed to be 'the next big thing' in HDTV as well as many other applications.

Search for OLED Technology in your fav search engine and you'll get all the specifications and applications. Its very interesting.

 Happy New Year! Itay.

This all comes down to what you're going to use it for. Plasma works better when there's low ambient light (a dark room) whereas a typical LCD will perform as well in a bright room as it will a dark room. Typically, a Plasma works better if you watch a lot of movies in the dark, whereas an LCD performs better as an everyday TV.

You need to watch out for things like refresh rate (with LCD) and contrast ratio (the higher the better). LCD has a big downside in that it has terrible trouble reproducing blacks. Some companies reckon they've solved it, but unless they can figure out a way to switch off all the lights in the TV, it is almost impossible to get a solid black.

Plasma will give you a better picture under the right lighting conditions. All things being equal LCD is more versatile and in my opinion the better purchase for the average consumer.

I think Everything HDTV said it best :

When it comes down to it, there are good LCDs and bad LCDs, there are good Plasmas and bad Plasmas. As long as you get a *good* LCD or a *good* Plasma you'll be fine.

Plasma and LCD have their own advantages and disadvantages. This article on Plasma vs LCD HDTV describes all the issues for both formats.
