This is a silly question but, since puppies are born with an umbilical cord, why don't they have a belly button?
happy new year
They don't have traditional belly buttons, theirs usually close up but every once in a while you may spot a dog with an 'outty'. They do have umbilical cords, the mother dog usually chews them and they fall off on their own. Sometimes when the layers their don't close up all the way and some fat will fall though to the skin layer and make it look like an 'outty' belly button, this is called an 'umbilicall hernia' usually not a problem unless it is large enough for intestines or other organs to fall through, then they may need surgery.
