Looking for a beginner guitar lesson online, do you know of any websites where I can find free online instruction?

I'm looking for help with chords, where to position your fingers etc.

Really beginner stuff...

Yup, Youtube has some excellent videos to learn from, you just have to search around a little. You can even find songs that you like.

ADD: Hey Hillary, I used the Jamorama course myself, I see the word is spreading, it's  a great course, I recommend it too....compared to the cost of private lessons, I saved myself a fortune...

Enjoy, it's fun.

Jessy. If you like worship songs and want easy step-by-step lessons try http://WorshipGuitarClass.com

Learn to play the gutar effortlessly! <a href="" rel="nofollow" cl="http://www.worshipguitarclass.com" class="comlink">Christian Guitar Lessons</a><a href="" rel="nofollow" cl="http://www.worshipguitarclass.com" class="comlink"> </a><a href="" rel="nofollow" cl="http://www.worshipguitarclass.com" class="comlink"> </a>

Less a lesson site and more of a resourse is chordbook.com. Here you'll find chords how they sound and alternate ways to play the same chord. As you progress, you can play along to backtracks and other fun stuff. Definetley worth a visit. (All free of course) Good luck and learn the pentatonic scale asap.

You should do fine, it takes time but have patience.
its easy to learn the notes and chords but what's hard is staying on beat and making sure you have the right count for each note!

If you are looking for great beginner guitar lessons online I suggest the Jamorama course that Hilary suggested.

Do you know any good guitar training websites?

Basically i want to play with more speed anyone know any good sites were i can do this. bit of training

Singorama is a singing course that contains great valuable ideas of how to sing songs like a professional with full vocal range.

Hi.

Like others have said, Jamorama is a great course. You might want to check that out for sure. There's another new site I've found which seems pretty cool: http://crashcoursemuso.com - they have som nice free lessons also. The video quality there is superb.

One free online site I hear quite a bit of good things about is this: http://justinguitar.com

However, what 40 years of playing guitar has taught me is this: You will likely get what you pay for. And when you pay nothing...

What most of the times is lacking with these free solutions like YouTube videos, is that it is not organized enough (well, actually not organized at all) for anyone but the rather experienced players to really benefit from them. If you know what you're looking for then sure, you can weed out stuff and pick out what you need.

Another issue is that unless you know exactly what to search for, then it is really hard to judge the quality of the stuff that is being presented. How can someone just starting out know if the person presenting a lesson is the real deal? What are the teaching qualifications and the actual skills?

The chances of you picking up some bad habits is absolutely present, I'm afraid. I have seen it time after time - people having to re-learn things they have been taught "for free". There is a huge amount of talent and time being wasted right there.

It is so important to learn everything absolutely right from the get go - I can't stress this enough!

So, even though it is tempting to try getting a "free lunch", I always encourage someone taking up a guitar hobby (or any hobby for that matter) to reflect on the long term benefits and the possible side effects of taking one route as opposed to the other.
