Ludwig Van Beethoven was born 1770, and died 1827 (our music teacher made us memorize stuff like this...)

Beethoven lived between 1770 and 1827.  He was born in bonn germany and his grandfather was flemish (hence the van part of the name).  He moved to vienna in about 1792 hoping to study with mozart but mozart had died the previous year. He stayed in vienna the rest of his life.
