Do you get fake nails put on? How healthy are your nails underneath? I had nails put one once and when I took them off (and boy did it hurt) my nails underneath were awful!
I've had my nails done for 20 years lol... Yes if you take the acrylic off, the nail must be grown out completely before they are healthy again. (I use the Solar)
Acrylic nails are something you either need to do all the time or not at all. I love them because I never break one and don't have to polish. I always do the pink and white (white tips) and not nail polish but the acrylic (is done by putting the pink on the base of the nail and the tip is done in the white acrylic). It goes with everything and other than going to the salon every two weeks, I never have to mess with them. The salon trip is my relaxing girl time. I get my nails done, a pedicure, and massage every two weeks. ahhhhhhh lol
And... with all the painting I've been doing... I need to go now! (As soon as I finish!) Hopefully Sat morning I'll be sitting in the chair.
Note:
If you want to remove them... the only way to keep from ripping off part of the natural nail is to soak them in acetone, which will melt all of the acrylic off.
Great answer Jada Lynne... thanks for the answer. Where would I buy acetone? I remember ripping them off and it hurt like the dickens.
Buy dollar store nails and make them look like $30 nails.

Fake nails are not healthy for your natural nails, but there are some things you can do to help the natural nail.
As mentioned earlier, solar oil is good to use if you are considering artificial nails. This particular oil can actually penetrate and help keep your natural nails conditioned.
You also need to be carfull of getting nail fungus, this is a very common problem with fake nails.
