Plain ties are a little wider.

Always look your best because you never know who you're going to meet.

Skinny ties are one of the most fashionable men’s garments out there – wearing a plain tie makes you seem more mature, and not as cool – while wearing a skinny tie makes you hip and young. While that may be an overstatement, skinny ties will make you look sharp, and you’ll look much better than you would with a plain tie in any case. So why not wear one?

They’re very hard to find, but the high-quality products you’ll want to be showing off to others are expensive – designer skinny ties (and men’s ties in general) can be ludicrously expensive. And for no reason at all – a skinny tie doesn’t take that much material to make, but the designer mark up will make it more expensive in every case.
