How are the BCS standings calculated?

It's a computer that looks at who won and lost, and by how much.  It's sometimes fair and accurate, but at times, not.

There are 4 components that contribute to a teams rank: subjective polls, computer rankings, Strength of a team's schedule and number of loses. Each team gets a score for each one of these categories. The team with the lowest score will be ranked number one.
