Gas is certainly the way to go, it's easy to maintain and use, and is ready to cook within minutes.

That’s my personal choice.

 Let me give you some of my tips - after all BBQ is one of my favorites

Before choosing the right one for you ask yourself the following basic questions:

• 
  Do you usually cook for a small family or do you entertain frequently?

This will help you decide what size of cooking area you need

• 
  Are you just cooking the basics or an adventurous gourmet cook?

Grills have many extra additional features such as a rotisserie, side burners, and warming shelves. Extra side shelves can help you prepare your food before cooking and make the presentation of the dish after it’s being cooked. And we all know presentation is worth at least 50% of the taste

• 
    How far is your grilling area from your kitchen?

Some  grills offer storage space where you can store all your seasoning, sauces, garnishing, plates and silverware and off course your grilling tools.

Side burers are also useful in this case, since you can cook or keep warm other non-grilled dishes, and you don’t need to run back and forth to the indoor kitchen

• 
  Where are you going to place the grill – is it under a Roof, a Gazebo? 
             

If it is fully outdoor, make sure you get stainless steel, so it won’t rust

• 
  Is it for a fixed kitchen setting or will you need to mobilize it ?

My brother has the Weber Genesis Silver B and he's very satisfied with it, I believe that it's around $100 cheaper than the Platinum which was recommended above.

As for my Personal preferences - I'd go for charcoal grill just for the flavor. Yes, it's a bit messy, but you don't use it every day, I guess. The bottom line is that it worth the special flavor that can be derived only from charcoal. Note that most gas burners also require some maintenance from time to time.

I like Weber 586002 Q 320 Portable Outdoor Gas Grill. The best grill for the money. Heats up very fast - to 450 degrees within 1 minute. List the things I like of Q320, they are: infinite control knobs, lid lights, reinforced strong rust free frame,- electronic ignition.

Weber, Napoleon, and Broil King are good brands.
