I work for a local bank and they can hold it for up to 14 days to verify that it is a real check drawn from a real bank where funds are truely available to cover the check. Also to make sure you are not directly or indirectly involved in a money scam or in money laundering. For these reasons, I would be glad to wait it out.

Thanks, good link Lisa,
was looking for great info on bank repo cars for sale.

ADD: I have used the program recommended by Lisa and I am totally satisfied with it!

You can contact your local bank - but most banks send their cars directly to dealer auctions so they don't keep them around long.

Public auctions are always high risk for finding a reliable car but you have to give up something to get a great price.

Whats the cheapest way to get government or bank repo cars or seized or used government vehicles?

Looking for a cheap repo car that still functions really well.

What can you tell me about buying government seized cars?

Looking for really nice cars for like $1500. Is it viable and legit to buy seized cars? What should I avoid or be cautious of?

ADD: After struggling for quite a long time to find the answers I was looking for, I have taken Lisa's advice and decided to pay for good service. I will never regret it, I got my answers in less than 20 minutes!! fantastic!

Thanks Lisa for the great advice you gave!!

Where do you find cars impounded in crackdown?

Gov. auction cars are nothing but repo cars in whose original purchase there was an involvement of a gov contract of some sort. My experience with them is good, but you do have to know what you're doing.

If you go the offline route, you should try to find as many auctions as possible in your local area. Go early, see what's available, who other attendees might be ( particularly dealers ) and how many of them there are. Study the rules, as they do tend to change a bit from one particular auction to the next. Always check the car and ask for the vehicle's VIN. Get a full Vehicle history report  at Autocheck or any other place you trust ( sometimes provided by the seller ). Know how much you can afford to bid ( including additional costs ) and don't go beyond that.

Here are some more tips on how to buy repossessed cars on sale where to purchase government auction cars .

Good luck.
