It would help if you gave us more details.

1. what are your ages?

2. do you have other children?

3. what is your financial situation?

4. why does she want an abortion?

5. have you discussed the moral implications of abortion?

Sorry, whilst I sympathise, this is not your body that will be put under incredible strain and it is not your life that will change forever once the baby is born.A foetus is a parasite and there are health-related implications that many men don't consider or appreciate when a woman becomes pregnant. My grandmother lost all of her teeth during her 4 pregnancies for example.

If she doesn't want to have the baby, whatever your feelings are on the subject, you should support her decision unconditionally. Most importantly, you two need to communicate better because I doubt she wants to abort on a whim, I expect she has valid reasons and you need to hear them before you get swept away with romantic notions of parenthood.

OMG, totalchunk! "A foetus is a parasite....." ??????   NO, it is a baby, a human being. Forced abortion is murder.

Ouch Chunk that was cold (but I see your point)!

Kman I know this is too late for you but hopefully it will help others. I've been through a similar situation and unfortunately I didn't have the emotional maturity to deal with it at the time. Ultimately it is Her body and it is up to her if she wants to keep the baby, it sucks but that's the way it is.

If you want to persuade her to keep the baby you need talk to her thoroughly about it without getting angry or belittling her, that would put the final nail in the coffin. Listen to her objections, be emotionally sympathetic but deal with it logically and calmly and confidently.

She might be worried about:

Finance (housing etc)

what her family and friends will think

her health and the health of the baby

the pain.

whether you're going to be there

lack of a social life

if the baby is yours (no offense, I've been there)

whether she is capable of being a good mother

You shouldn't bring a baby in to the world if you can't look after them. That being said I don't think any parents are ever 100% ready.
