mercruiser boat came out of forward gare midthottle Now forward dosnt work any more it grinds like it want to pop into gare but wont yet reverse still works

You may have to adjust your shift cable.  There is a black plastic "jig" that came with your engine/outdrive package.  It sets the position of your shifter to your outdrive.  Your dealership should be able to adjust it.
