It sounds like a sticky valve lifter.  Try Bardahl or Marvel Mystery Oil to loosen it.  Failing that, you're into a valve lifter job, by which time you're money ahead to rebuild.  If you want to keep the rig, and don't mind it being old, then that is your option.
