Theoretically, could a person make a neural network program, add a million "neurons" / synapses, and have it act like a brain?
It works well in Sci-Fantasy. The Ender Saga by O.S.Card has an AI called Jane who is quite human. The Pip and Flinx series by A. D. Foster has several AIs in it. Terry Brooks' Antrax features a very evil AI.
Will it happen? I don't think so, but I never would have believe my computer that is disguised as a phone. Surf the web. Take a picture. Send a text message. Oh, excuse me, I have a call.
Ol Yeddar, what we can imagine, we can eventually do. It is one matter to devise a machine with self-building software based on the things that happen to the machine, and quite another to devise a machine that can think "outside the box."
That is the mark of actual intelligence. If we reduce ourselves to an utter lack of inspiration and conventional thinking, then we might as well be reduced to argument by authority, which of course will never do.
Let us think what could happen if we alowed ourselves to be conditioned to think and live like soulless robots. The result would be as irrational as it would be inhumane.
Silly me. I thot that was what 0 was striving for.
Do you actually wish to be a soulless robot? I hardly think so. If science teaches us nothing else it is that we use teamwork to solve problems because there is an inspired synergy in a team: the larger the team the greater the synergy.
That happens only when we connect to the vast pool of unlearned knowledge that we call spirit. Whet we know, or think we know, is insignificant placed next to intuition.
The Almighty knows how much of that information to reveal to us a little at a time. Faith and science therefore become one, and must remain so if we are to progress.
No, I don't.
Let me expand my answer.
Silly me. I that that was what 0bama was striving for.
Obama sought the prestige of the Oval Office but has proven disastrously incompetent there. Democrats seem to think that his personal charisma (crass manipulation might be a better term) will be enough to fill that office. Such folly has already cost us severely and the toll mounts rapidly.
Obama's sheer recklessness in finance and indecision in policy matters will be the deathknell for America. Only leftists seem to think that is a good idea. Of course, if our leftists went anywhere else, they would find out how wrong they are but by that time there will be no hope at all for anyone.
Tell me, where is the sign that says, "Abandon hope all ye who enter here?" And why was that three-headed dog guarding the gate?
