Discuss Brian's answer to: APA internship post-degree

I have a Clinical Psychology PhD and finished a non-approved internship. Now life circumstances would be easier if I had an APA internship. Is there any way to get an APA internship post-degree? I ...

If you were not approved for internship, there is a clear and relevant cause: it always boils down to conduct and ethics.  That cause will have been stipulated by every institution that declined you.

If you took an unapproved internship, it will be yet another disqualification on your permanent record.

You may petition the school that graduated you for a specific reconsideration stating cause why your disqualification no longer applies.  It can be a good idea to have your attorney prepare the documents.

The reason we have approval procedures for internships to most professions is that we wish to determine which of the graduates is actually fit for practice.

One look at medical and professional malpractice litigation will show you the reason for selective internship.
