Using http://webmail.aol.com shouln't be slow. Especially with the latest release it should have improved a lot. If it still feels slow this can have a number of factors: Version of Windows / Apple OS, version of the browser. Typically older versions of Windows and IE or Firefox tend to be slower with a new application like AOL Webmail. But your connectivity and the bandwith between the AOL servers and your computer also contribute to the experience.

If you have an older version of windows and/or browsers you could try upgrading or you could also use the Basic version of aol webmail (http://basic.webmail.aol.com) which has been developed to support slower connections and older browsers while offering almost the same feature set.

I've tried it on multiple high end computers with cable modems and yes, it is sloowwww.  Takes forever to get off of the AOL Mail is Loading Page with the smiley, or tongue sticking out picture.  It's so frustrating while every other aspect of my internet experience is fine and my gmail loads in seconds.

No idea why you gave me two thumbs down. But in any case: Have you tried http://basic.webmail.aol.com? Please let me know how this is on your computer. Also what browser are you using to access AOL Webmail?

It was nothing against you personally, it's just that the answer does not help.  The person who initially asked mentioned that they tried different machines, I have also tried on multiple new high end machines with cable modems, and cleared cache's.  There is no reason these machines should use the basic version and even when I did the basic version sometimes loads slow too.  Every other aspect of my browsing experience is normal including other email services.  I'm sorry.

I also have slow trouble with AOL.  No explanation why either.  I use Yahoo! e-mail and it's my homepage but I use AOL to more easily send photos without having to have recipients open "attachments".  AOL is slow to come up, slow to log on, and even slow to log out of.  For that reason, it isn't my home page and isn't my main e-mail address.

I use Windows 7 and i wasn't having any issues...   Then one day it just starts running slow...  I'm using IE 8 it runs fast and opens fast..   But when you go to your AIM/Mail to login https://my.screenname.aol.com it loads slow... BUT the worse thing is ...   Trying to load a message or email you need to read...   takes for ever to open and read it...       So i have installed FireFox..  on my windows pc...   OPens just fine...   SO MY FIX IS!!...   INSTALL FIREFOX... IF YOU WANT TO GET IT WORIKING AGIAN...

HOWEVER I'M A LINUX LOVER and i have tried this on my linux box... ubuntu linux...    open up Firefox and it runs great inside a Linux pc/workstation...   I think its windows causing this issue.

Fix is Use Linux/workstation ( Ubuntu, any linux with firefox.)

On Windows 7 , I have Installed Opera and man is it fast...  I will use this one for my aol mail.      I have also installed Firefox on my windows box..  Its even just as fast...     So the word is IE 8 Is having issues with AIM...
