Wow.  The same thing just happened to me.  Over 200 unread or undeleted items gone in a flash.  Just upgraded to windows vista on sony vaios.  I wonder if that did anything.   have your emails returned?  aol has no answeer for this on line.

The upgrade to Vista should not have effected your Inbox.  If your messages are no longer in your AIM Mail Inbox try checking all of the other mail folders as well (Sent, Trash, Saved, etc).

No upgrade on my part.  I use multiple PC's with windows xp.  Have used the same ones for over a year, and never had this problem before.  All my messages just disappeared.  My contacts are still there, as are my sent messages.

Any chance that you connected via some POP3 client?

No.  I havent connected from any pop3 clients.  I very familiar with email server administration, so that was what I thought at first too.  Only problem is, I dont use anything with AIMMail except the web interface.  Unless someone somehow got my account information, and connected using pop3 unbeknownst to me. :-(

Same thing just happened to me.  All of my emails are gone except for the ones I received today.  About 200 emails just gone.  Did we ever find an answer to above complaint?  Please help.

No.  No answer was ever found.  I wish I could have contacted AOL tech support or something... but I guess I got what I paid for with a free mail service.  The bummer is that I lost a lot of stuff that I can't get back.

I decided that I would switch to a different free email service since I couldnt find a solution.  I went to google mail, although I still use AIM chat.

Thanks,

Sam

all of a sudden yesterday, it all disappeared!  I have lost a lot of important stuff too.  they don't offer customer service for their email users at all.  how are they held accountable?  bummer.  I am switching too.  it's been long enough.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the longest time and now just when I though they might pull through and be a solid email server...not the case ;-(

How do I have AOL 9.7 email download attachments without asking for file

It will ask for file location. You can't prevent that. You might put the downloads in a Pictures folder, or Documents, or Downloads. The next time it will display the same folder you last chose, so you may be able to just click OK. But maybe you want to separate Mary's pictures from Jill's.
