AOL Mail Challenge

I cannot send an email.  Every time I try to do so, I get this small window as follows:

AOL MAIL -- Challenge

Please click on the URL below and complete the "image puzzle."

I have no idea what it is asking.  I need your help immediately.  I need to send a couple of emails from this address.

Its an AOL technincal issue.  You may siill be able to use other screen names or AOL on Internet Explorer (albeit still may be a problem here too).

Use live chat on AOL so they can confirm there is nothing you can but you can also see a statement update on the email section (like a system status update)saying they r having issues.

Ask Live Help for tel number of billing and then call AOL and claim a refund as they don't know how long it will take to resolve.

Really Fab Cards

Largest selection of branded cards to be online.

I am having the same problem, but Aol does not talk to customers that have free accounts.  Guess it's time to dump aol.

I am also having this problem, intermittently. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I had the same problem.  We have been invaded by some outside force.  I closed my AOL program.   When I re-opened the issue was solved.  Try it.

I had the same problem.  When I closed AOL and then reopened it - the issue was solved.  We have been apparently invaded by some outside force.   Those my spyware programs did not find the invader.  Good luck.

I had this for the first time today Dec. 22, 2009. Same issues as all other I found on an internet search for AOL Challenge. Go into AOL from the internet. You will be able to access your account by typing in the name and password. You can receive, download and send your AOL mail from this site. Go to: www.aol.com

What is Image Challenge?
I just passed an Image Challenge and got another one immediately. What do I do?
Why do I have to take the Image Challenge multiple times?
I can’t see the Image Challenge image. What do I do? What is Image Challenge?
Image Challenge is a challenge/response abuse prevention system. (Challenge/response is an algorithm/protocol used for identifying and blocking spam e-mails). If the system identifies an e-mail sent from your account as possible spam, it will hold back the e-mail and prompt you with an Image Challenge to confirm that you, and not mailing robots or automated programs, are sending that e-mail. If you respond to the Image Challenge correctly, then you will be able to send the e-mail that was held back. If you respond incorrectly, you will not be able to send that e-mail.
It's one of our most effective tools in preventing automated programs from abusing your e-mail accounts. The word hidden in the image cannot be read by a computer and must be entered manually. This ensures that a real person and not an automated program or machine is trying to send the e-mail. Here is an example of an Image Challenge:
I just passed an Image Challenge and got another one immediately. What do I do?
If you successfully pass the Image Challenge and you are immediately asked to pass another one, you may need to clear your Web browser cache and cookies. Once your cache and cookies have been cleared, try to pass the Image Challenge again. If you continue to get further Image Challenges, go to http://challenge.aol.com/spam/html and try again. Why do I have to take the Image Challenge multiple times?
If you are asked to pass the Image Challenge several times a day and are unable to send e-mails even after you clear the browser cache and cookies, then a worm or virus may have infected your computer. We recommend that you run a virus scan on your computer and reset the passwords on your account to maintain the privacy and security of your account. If the virus scan comes back clean, you will need to check when your antivirus software was last updated. If the last update happened more than 29 days ago, please try updating the software again. If you are unable to update the antivirus software, please contact the software vendor for further support.
If you do not have antivirus software installed on your computer, you can install McAfee Internet Security Suite - Special edition from AOL.
If you frequently send e-mails to large distribution lists, you may be asked to pass the Image Challenge more than once. It is also possible that AOL received complaints from members about your e-mails. We encourage you to ensure that you only send e-mails to recipients who have confirmed that they want to receive your e-mails. You can do this by reaching out to your recipients separately and confirming that they would like to remain on your mailing list in the future.
