Discuss AOLMailAnandh's answer to: AOL Address Book take over by AOL

all of a sudden I have found my address book populated with adresses from everyone who ever wrote to me or I wrote to them. I want my address book with only people I enter not AOL. How did this happen ...

Official

·         Login to http://mail.aol.com

·         Click on the ‘Settings’ link

·         Click on ‘Compose’ from the left panel.

·         Un check the check box “Automatically add email addresses to Contacts”

·         Click on the ‘Save’ button.

Check your Spam Settings. The only time you allow senders address to be added to your address book is if you "trust" a sender - by always allowing links or pictures (click Settings->Spam Settings->Content Filter) and make sure you have “Block mail containing pictures or files” correctly set

I found the anser. I recently had to reinstall AOL and all previous setting were lost hence the populated address book of every tom dick and harry. I just had to make a check of AOL not to add every address to my address book. They should have saved my setting since I choose a previous customer with an account.
