AOL mail in windows 8 mail app and AOL desktop in windows 8 desktop

Hi. I just purchased a computer with Windows 8. I added my aol account to the mail app and the aol desktop app to the desktop. I am experiencing 2 issues.  In the Windows 8 mail app, I cannot sync emails in my folders. I receive a message that (aol account name) is unavailable. And, when I move messages I receive to an existing folder the messager disappears The second issue is with the desktop app. I am not receiving all of my email messages.  Can you assist? Thanks in advance -Karen
