Aol mail Old version? Original version?

My aol mail screen is all messed up. There is a large blank screen with all of the normal information you would see jammed in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I think I am using the "regular" aol mail. One of my screen names is using the :new" aol mail and it works fine. I can find no where in the help files how to switch to the "new" aol mail. Anyone ever successfully done this and remember the steps to doing it? I am trying to switch to gmail but have not gotten all my email addresses changed to it yet. So I need to be able to read these still.
