Why am I so angry since I stopped smoking?

I quit smoking 2 months ago (9 weeks) after 33 years, and I was doing really good but the past two weeks I am so angry all the time - and I really have no control over it - and then I get angrier at myself for feeling this way - I am almost considering smoking again but I really dont want to - I just cannot handle how I feel inside - what can I do?

What, exactly, is making you angry?  This time of year can be very stressful.  You are used to having cigarettes to ease that stress.   Do you exercise?  If possible, you may want to talk to a professional about this issue.  There may be more going on here than you are aware of.

Hi Tonia. Smoking was a crutch for a long time, 33 years you say. That's a tough addiction to kick. Congatulations!!! Now you have to learn how to walk through life without your crutch. That is such a wise decision, but at the same time, so challenging!

What I would do is extreme, but if you attribute your anger with not smoking anymore, I would force myself to go to a Hospital where people are literally dying from the effects of cigarettes.. where they are suffocating and crying out in pain 24 hours a day.. dying and terrified.

Of course you know these things happen, which I assume is the reason you quit.. but I would bet that if you would watch these people suffer for just one afternoon, watch those without hope of quitting smoking and ever having a healthy pain-free life again.. then search your Soul for what you really need to feel so angry about, things wouldn't seem so bad after all.

The devil has a way of making the wrong feel right and the right feel wrong. He wants us to be miserable and to kill ourselves. Taking authority over that fact is half the battle!  If God be for us who can be against us! : )

The road to nowhere is paved with good intentions.
