amish fireplace this is in newpapers buy 1 get 2nd heater free does this really work
I bought one. You know how the people in the commercial are all sitting very, very close to this heater? Even on high, it sort of breathed out heat. Ours was very easily tipped over, and when on high, the top part of the heater where the dial is got pretty hot. You could touch the glass, because the fire was all done with light bulbs.
It looked very nice, but I saw something similar in Home Depot. Maybe it would have worked in a small space, but it didn't even make my room go up one degree, and we tried it in several rooms.
They were very nice about returning it. Made me figure I got a lemon. They returned all my money (also the shipping and handling) and had the delivery truck pick it up free of charge.
Then my husband was talking to one of these delivery men. He said that almost all of the heaters he delivers eventually will be returned.
I wouldn't recommend them, maybe somebody else didn't get a "lemon?"
All electric heating elements are approximately 100% efficient, but while technically true that fact can be misleading.
First of all if your heater has a fan as well as a heating element, the fan reduces the efficiency from a scientific standpoint, but even so it might help the thing warm up your room faster by moving the heated air around better.
But f you heat with some other fuel, say oil or natural gas, your furnace or boiler will be a good deal less efficient, from a scientific standpoint, but it might be much cheaper heat for you than the 100% efficient electric heat, just because oil or gas may well be far cheaper than electricity where you live. It commonly is.
Check the wattage on any electric heater you are considering. If you buy a little 1500 watt space heater for undeer your desk at work, it puts out the same amount of heat as a typical Mr. Coffee Machine. Anyway, wattage is pretty much wattage on electric heaters, regardless of the religion of the people who built it.
But it is amuising, in an ironic sort of way, to buy an "Amish" electrical appliance, right?
