I think it matters what kind of test, blood or urine? It will show up in your urine most likely depending how long and how much you are on. It will show up as a benzodiazepines (drugs such as Valium and Xanax). Ambien is not actually a benzodiazepine, but it shares some pharmacological properties with the benzodiazepines.

No,Ambien is not a Benzodiazepine, and is not tested as one. Believe me, Ambien doesn't show up false-positive for any other drugs in routing drug test.  If a test is not specifically stated that it's testing for Ambien, then don't worry it won't show up. The average elimination half-life is 2-2.5 hours, and normally after 5 half-life cycles it's very hard to detect it again. We have a highly specialized method to test blood/urine for Ambien up to 48 hours which is very time consuming and expensive, so it's impossible to use this method for massive testing. It's only for forensic purpose.

If you are doing/applying a job which tests Benzodiazepines, you can stoping taking Benzos and take Ambien instead if you have insomnia. (Like I did before :)  I passed numerous tests which tested for benzos.

I was on drug tests for 2 years.  Between 2 and 8 a month.  I took Ambien constantly and it never showed up. sometimes I even Binged on it.  The thing with Ambien is that it works on the benzo receptors, but it isn't technically a benzo.  Don't give it another thought.

Ambien will show up on a blood test if tested for. I found this out the hard way after I woke from sleep driving and rear ending someone. Thankfully no one was injured but I will still be charged with a DUI, even though it was a prescription. But not a lot of states test for it and even less employers do.

Although Ambien enables (similar) receptors that are found close to the benzodiazepines recepotrs in the brian... but mind the fact, that Ambien does NOT enable the same recoptors. So enlse, you are to recieve indavidulized BLOOD testing it will not show up in urin testing...

It depends on how much you ingested, how potent it was, your body size and type and your metabolism. If you have to be drug tested and need to test clean, maybe you shouldn't do drugs.
