Find an equation of the line containing the given pair of points. (-4,0) and (0,7)

No need for such a lengthy solution: 
Y = aX + b   Just install those 2 points at this general equation to get: 

0 = -4a + b
7 = b
------------  
 0 = -4a +7
4a = 7   a =7/4  Now you have a and b. 

And the equation is:  Y = (7/4)X + 7       or      4Y = 7X +28

There is a need to teach these people the algorithms, such as finding slope and point slope form, in these questions. Not all that ask questions here can even do math at the mediocre level.
