Yes.  If that dirty needle was used by someone else with the virus, it's possible.

Don't jump the gun here. What do you mean by dirty needle? People who draw blood are most commonly healthcare workers who I would not expect to administer the AIDS virus to you.

Donna Lynne, that wasn't my question.  I am quite certain that in my case the needle had been reused, and whom it was used on before me is impossible to tell. So under these circumstances I do expect something out of the ordinary as a result.

Q, I am not trying to offend you. I am trying to give you a little ease. If you are worried the best thing to do is confront whoever did this and get tested. This is not common practice nor should anyone reuse a needle.

I'm having a hard time with this one as well. Blood banks, hospitals etc have all sorts of government protocols in place right down to the destruction of sharps, biological waste etc.  Especially in the day and age we now live in. Since  the Aids epidemic 1st started From the CDC (Center for Disease Control) all the way down to the individual Hospitals Infection Control Officer there are mandated procedures, I just can't see anyone risking their Accreditation, Licenses or facing a class action lawsuit over using an inexpensive plastic syringe twice. Are you saying that when the person doing the blood draw, you watched and she didn't open a new plastic syringe?  Actually you didn't mention where it was that you had blood drawn. Was it at a Hospital or a Mobile van on site for a Blood Drive? Any more info would be appreciated...Good Luck....
