Trying to tell you that on here is IMPOSSIBLE ! There have been over 40 wars in Africa during the last 10 years. There have been countless deaths and worse, horrendous conduct by rapacious, leaderless 'armies' , starvation, people uprooted, needless killings, government corruption on a grand scale, pious hand holding by UN Officials, lack of support to other countries that have sent troops to peace keep  - -and it goes on !  Go to the library, settle into a chair near the "Africa" shelf -you will be reading for days, maybe more. Frown

and if you can read even a part of it without weeping, you wouldn't be human

Africa's history is too mangled in back door deals, betrayal (from all sides Euro, Jewish, African, Arab). I'm from Senegal and despite how sad it is there, we faired thousands of times better than other regions. Mainly because we didn't have as many resources (i guess that's luck). Either way, Africa isn't going anywhere for a while.

thanks Strider - I've lived many places as a kid including SA, Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia and Kenya. Been back as an adult peacekeeper in Congo and Zambia. I feel so sad for all those poor people.   - The questioner didn't like my answer -he wanted an essay  - - -
