My husband & I are going to start trying to have a baby in a few months. I’m 20 years old, a student, majoring in environmental science. I’m not working right now, my husband is the one who provides income. He just started a welding apprenticeship & also works at a pizza shop, makes about $1,300 a month. His apprenticeship starts him working only 2 days a week welding, then each year (for 4 years) he gets more hours & pay until he’s a jouneyman welder making about 40,000 a year. So we don’t have a whole lot of money right now but within 4 years we will have plenty for the simple lifestyle we want. - & with budgeting we can afford to have a baby. I plan on going to school full time while I’m pregnant, then taking a year off after the baby is born before going back part time. It will take me longer to finish school, but I really want to be a mom first & would rather juggle part time school & being a mom rather than a new full time career & being a mom. A lot of stuff will probably be given to us, a lot of people we know and in the family just had babies. Any advice would be appreciated!
My advice is be a loving parent. Teach your newborn to respect others as it grows. Give what you can to your child, but dont spoil it. If you can ask childs grandparents to watch your child and refrain from strangers for baby sitters. And most of all dont be an absentee parent, be hands on, and be there for the child when it needs help or advice. You will do just fine.
You know what you want in life, and if you want to become a mom first, it is your choice. It is indeed very difficult to study at the same time have a baby, but if you really want to, you can always find a way. I wish you all the best! Good thing, that you have a great support system from your family, for sure, it would'nt be that hard for you.javascript:mctmp(0);
