Last Jan. our electric was out nine days because of an ice storm. We had not used our fireplace for several years and had no fresh cut wood. The wood we burned was old, rotten and wet. It gave off awful fumes. Soon afterward my husband became ill and was finally diagnosed with acute renal failure. Does anyone know if breathing fumes from the old burning wood could cause kidney failure?
