Credit counseling issues

My credit problems are being handled (paid) by a credit agency.  The monthly payments are huge and I don't know if I'll be able to continue with them.  I have utilities and other household stuff to pay, which varies from month to month.  I don"t know whether to continue with the agency or drop them and fend for myself.

Duck,

Without knowing the facts of how much you owe to each one and how much they negotiated for you to pay to each one and your income and other expenses, its really impossible for us to know or tell you what is best.   But a few points for you to consider:

1.  Some of those "credit rehabilitations" outfits are not so great; some of them are just in it to make money for themselves and not really so concerned about you.    Do they take out so much each month for their "fee" ... or how do you pay them.  If they get paid a % of what you pay out, they better have written agreements from your creditors reflecting what amount they got off the debt (cancelled) and what deals they made for you and you have to see what interest rates they negotiated for you to pay, if they have you paying real high interest rates (higher than before) they've not helped you as far as I can tell (without all the facts and figures).

2.   Depending on how much you owe in total and if they got "concessions" of any creditors to take less (write of some of the debt), that will determine if you have a good deal now or something you should break off with them and the creditors.

3.  You could consider bankruptcy to cut off ALL your creditors (except mortgage holders on your home, IRS and property taxes) ... Ch 7 ... but then your credit will really be shot for some 7 or 10 (I forget) years.   So you have to weigh the pros and cons of both ways.   Of course if you are just making payments and going nowhere (with high interest accumulating and low payments on principle balances) that is just throwing good money after bad money and treading water till you drown (to use metaphors).

You might want to go do an initial conference which should be free with a bankruptcy lawyer and seek his opinion on what is best for you to do.

BEWARE of what the money-driven "Credit Rehab" outfits say they can do and what they really do and where you end up!   Like most things, some are pretty legit (especially the non-profit ones) and some should be avoided (as they only wnat to make money on your misery).

hope this helps a little,

Rob

If you really can't pay and have no prospects of being able to pay bankruptcy might be an option.  It is a big step that will heavily damage your credit for years.

Hello Duck,

The agency you are currently working with is exploiting your problems.  In fact they have became another one of your creditors.  Our initial payment is $300 down and $25 per month regardless of how many agencies we talk to for you.  Give me a call: 888-242-1011 or visit our website: http://www.revenuerecoveryship.com

We also adjust our fees to your time line.  It will not hurt to call.

My name is Andrew Dunbar, Jr.  I am the owner of Revenue Recovery and S.O.S Debt Managers, a Christian Based debt management company.  Many debt management companies are just another creditor for you.  If your Payments are too high it is because their fees' are too high.  They are profiting off of your debt situation.  Moreover, they are acting on the behalf of the credit card companies.  Please, for your own benifit call us I will consult with you for free.  Listen to what we have to tell you, I am sure that it will be good news. 888-242-1011.  http://www.sosdebtmanagers.com

With an economy in recovery, making ends meet can be difficult.  I made some bad credit choices and ended up in debt. AFC helped me resolve all of my debt with their credit card counseling and when I purchased my home was given an amazing interest rate! Thanks www.debtguru.com
