The 09/11 attacks were horrible tragedies for our country as well as for the families of everyone who died.

Time has passed, but the pain remains. No one who lived through that time will ever forget it.

Those of us around the country who became gradually aware of the first wave of attacks couldn't believe what we were hearing.

Those of us with family or friends who worked or lived near Ground Zero were desperately trying to learn the latest news of our loved ones.

And now, after time has passed, we know things have changed but we also know things have stayed the same.

Safety measures have been enacted, but we all know it would only take desire and planning on the part of our enemies for another national nightmare to strike deep into the heart of our country.

09/11 may fade from daily memory for most of the year, but it will never disappear.

September 11, 2001 my husband and I were on a tour bus and when the witty tour guide began telling us of the events, we thought she was leading up to a joke.  We were waiting for the punchline.

Very soon our own cell phones began to ring and the bus knew what was happening, but could not believe it was really true.  We were dumbfounded and filled with disbelief and began immediately to blame the US Intelligence community.

We did not get to see pictures of the event until we arrived at our hotel rooms.  We all wanted to get back home to our loved ones.  We felt sad and out of place visiting with people we hardly knew.

None of us will ever forget the day, the time, the place we were when it happened, and we kept saying and shaking our heads, "On our own soil!" "unbelievable."

Thanks for correcting the date.

To me, it was worse than Pearl Harbor.  9/11/01 was on the Homeland against civilians.  Pear Harbor was a surprise attack on a military base. Hawaii was not a state at that time.

I don't think you can compare the two.

My take is that many in this Country have forgotten that day.  Not in the sense regarding the "date", but what Americans felt that day and how dangerous the enemy we face truly is.  Politics and Agendas were set aside on that day to become one ... Today, we're right back where we were before 9/11.

We cannot even agree on how to fight terrorists.

I think the Conservatives in this Country realize who and what our enemy is, and that we will not succeed against them if we allow then to use our laws within the United States against us.  Conservatives also know that applying the Geneva Convention to terrorists is dangerous for our Country and for our Soldiers.  Because clearly, al-Qaeda and the Taliban did not sign such a document and not abide by it.

I think the Liberals believe that terrorists can be reasoned with through dialogue and being pacifist.  Daniel Pearl tried dialogue and he became a victim.  Don't get me wrong, I admire the optimism that Liberals have regarding this strategy, but that was before Sept. 11th.  And not to mention, it's clear they do not care to have dialogue.  Liberals claim that by not using the Geneva Convention were are creating more terrorists.  Even though there is no data that supprts their claims.  Recruits for al-Qaeda today would have been recruits yesterday and will be recruits tomorrow.

I don't agree with providing etiquette on the battlefield, especially when that etiquette is not given in return by your enemy.  Sometimes you have to be willing to get dirty to insure success.

Liberals want to "handcuff" our military instead of allowing them to fight the enemy with the objective of winning.

Sept. 11th sticks in my mind everyday ... And I mean everyday.  My take on 9/11 is that our Country should come 1st ... Not France's opinion, Not Russia's opinion, and not the opinion of a terrorist.

Christmas of 2001 there were trees all over our city with names of victims and their families.  Our city gave generously.  I still have the family name tag that I chose from one of the trees and I remember the ages of the children who lost their father and I remember what I bought and put in the boxes for them and I remember seeing my family's grandfather on television talking about his two sons that he lost that day, and he himself a firefighter.  We adopted a brave and lovely family that day.

We do not forget, we cannot forget.  Time may pass, but the memory is still very sharp in our minds. The details are there.  We had friends and relatives of friends who were involved and whose lives were changed forever on that day because of that terriost act.  Anytime you sense that someone has forgotten, be sure to remind them.  We owe it to the next generation to remind them.

American you know my story of that day the I have a closeness to the towers that you will remember each step as will I that was taken on that morning, being there a couple times a week, and walking through them, something that is never to be done, getting Gin to safety, her real mom at that Brooklyn Bridge keeping people out of the city, then she was at Headquarters just about 24/7, the sweet young cop that I and friend helped clean his gear each day from ashes(what was left of people at that high of heat), he was looking for any parts that could show DNA, the first hit my niece lost her uncle Gary, never found anything, never will, we are still losing, from inhaling all that was down there, when second one was hit thought it was a repeat. Still light the candles, have to remind some to do it and always have extras..............

This is one day that all should burn into their minds, this happened on our soil...............
