My 9 yer old keeps drawing on things!

My 9 year old keeps drawing on things, things that are clearly not for drawing on. She has drawn on the seat of the car with ball point pen, on her carpet with felt pen, and on a new pair of jeans. I cant understand why she keeps doing it, I sometimes think she does it while day dreaming and forgets what she's doing for a moment. When I confront her she denys it. She's a busy little girl  that does competitive gymnastics and ballet and does well at school.Any suggestions would be really gratefully appreciated.  Thank you, from a confused mum tired of buying stain remover!!
