Half of $1.425.

 

14.25*5/100= $ 0.7125  (so it is 71 cents [Actually, as you can see, it is a bit over it, if one wants to be accurate, but we don't have parts of a cent]).

= 5 / 100 X 14.25

= 71.25 / 100

=(0.7125) = $ .7125 (answer)
