I have a 36 year old autistic grandson who is a very picky eater. Only eats hamburgers, fries, chicken nuggets and loves chips and a few crispy cookies. Will only eat food from certain fast food restuarants. Will not eat the same foods prepared at home, only from the same fast food places he is familiar with. Probably our fault for letting it go this far. Don't know what to do at this point.

That really is very common to autistic kids. Routines and habits and things being the same are very important to their sense of well being. You must remember, autistics are of normal or high intelligence, usually, but somewhere in the communications center and perceptual center of the brain, something goes off track. You can introduce new food or new things, but just one small change at a time. Nothing drastic, And don't try to force it on him. Autistic kids get very frightened and insecure and angry when things change too much.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.
