some models you can take to advance auto parts to have them hook up the machine to retrieve the code and it will reset the check engine light for a while, until you fix what made the check engine light come on

Go to an auto parts store like Auto Palace. The usually read the codes for you and can reset the light. But, unless you correct the problem it is likely to reoccur.
