A 17 year old Miss America?

Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlan, has won the 2011 Miss America pageant.  She is 17 years old, the youngest winner since 1921.  Do you think it's a problem for a 17 year old to compete in a beauty pageant and be Miss America?

A 17 yo does not qualify. Shes still probably shopping in the juniors section.

What would be the problem?  This is a beauty pageant, not an age contest.  And if I dare say, stage mothers are infamous for parading their five and six year old daughters around in pageants -- usually at the cost of the child's scholastics and social development.

What we can imagine, we will eventually do.

It's her life to do as she wants. Nobody's business but hers as long as she qualifies and adheres to the rules.
