I usually have no problems coming up with Holiday presents for my daughter but now that she is 13, I have absolutely no idea what to get her for Christmas this year. In the past, she's liked add-a-pearls, snowglobes, bracelets, books, art supplies and one collectible Lladro but I don't think those are going to be big hits any longer. She doesn't wear bracelets and her clothes are very casual with rips in them--apparently the "style" at her school. She also says she hasn't painted in a long time. If you have any thoughts about what a teenager might like, please let me know. I'm struggling with this. Thank you! (I thought about gift cards but with so many stores going out of business, rethought this particular idea)
Keebler --- How 'bout a little make-up kit that would teach her how to apply & use with taste, music album by her favorite artist, something to play it on, a watch especially if she has not had one yet, perhaps her first camera, a subscription to favorite magazine, if she has a hobby or special interest- supplies of any kind, a jacket for favorite sports team (girl's do wear them), sewing supplies with a PROMISE to teach her how to sew by making a garment or doll clothes with her if still interested in them, grown-up bed covers & draperies (to replace the little girl accessories), a cook book just like Mom's with some cake mixes & very own baking supplies, birthstone earrings or birthstone anything, a music box (grown-up style), jewerly box w/ a surprise piece a jewerly tucked inside. The list is really endless if you put some thought to it. Don't forget religious items.
Happy holidays. ----- Citrine1
And I was going to say a gift certificate! At this age they are trying to make their own statement of who they are as individuals. I guess I would just watch what she wears and even though you don't like it she might. (To a certain extent of course)
Unless she is firmly holding on to Santa as a real individual, talking to her might be in order. Have her give you some ideas. And this would be good for y'all's relationship.
Of course, the GC is always good. I had a friend that used to say that poverty was not so bad as along as you had money.
I can tell that you have done this before. A very impressive tour de force .
These are all great answers--and I thank you so much for your help! I have a number of ideas now and really appreciate the fact you took the time to think about this and respond! Best wishes to all of you.
The best thing to do is ask your child. If that is out of the question, then look at her room, see what she has displayed on her wall or dresser. That may tell you what kind of music she likes, or a style that is hip. Hope this helps.
I think a gift card is a great idea and if you stay with a store like best buy or circuit city they should be around for a while. Great for cds and dvds.
