About rory8535:

I have many diverse interests in which I've acquired some knowledge, but am always interested in learning new things!  I became disabled in the mid-1990's, and, while I have been unable to work since that time, I have not been unable to learn!  Learning has been, throughout my life, both my joy and salvation!

I have been, previously, a vet tech, dog breeder, show handler--both confirmation and obedience--and boarding kennel assistant manager; I'm still a dog groomer and trainer.  I trained my own Mobility Assistance Service Dog, and have a lot of knowledge about Service Dogs and the law (both the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act), as well as everyday access issues that happen when you're disabled (but not seeing impaired) and use a Service Dog.

I am also a self-taught jeweler (with skills not only in beading, but in metal fabrication), and know a great deal about stones physically, as well as the metaphysical properties of stones, minerals, and crystals, and their applications.

I'm currently learning wood carving and identification, and am making walking sticks and canes (from primarily found wood), as well as Welsh lovespoons, animal figures, and stylized animals carved in relief on plaques, cane handles, pendants, and any other application that takes my fancy!
