Sounds like a classic gauge problem. You may try to knock on it to see if it changes drastically. If it does, that's almost for certain a gauge problem.

That's because the "so called" heater is just a fan which blows hot air from under the hood. The AC uses a compressor and so takes on some engine power. Reason for squeals may be a dry band. Have it ...
