About Adoptee Rights Rally:

RESTORING RIGHTS TO ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Over five million adopted persons in the United States are denied access to their original birth certificates.
This is discrimination.
No legislation or any adoption contract states why a birth certificate is sealed from the person born. It is a known fact that relinquishing mothers do not seal their children’s birth certificates; state governments seal the birth certificates upon finalization of an adoption.
What are we asking from our State Legislators?
To end the discrimination against adopted persons, by proposing state legislation that will give all US adopted person’s restored access to their own birth certificates.
This will give all citizens in every jurisdiction of the United States equal access to state-issued original birth documents.
Our goal is to maintain a presence at the Annual Summit of the National Conference of State Legislatures. To coincide with this event, we propose an annual rally and gathering of adoptees, families of origin, adoptive families, friends and supporters.
During this time, attendees can network with others in their state towards the following goals:
* learn from attendees in states where access has been restored
* build relationships with those actively working in their state
* organize towards forming groups in states with no current pending legislation
* empower attendees to promote unconditional access as an inherent right in an atmosphere of solidarity and friendship
